Seven players in double figures as Cajuns shoot 57 percent from the floor

LAFAYETTE – Justin Miller scored 15 points off the bench to lead seven players in double figures and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns shot 57 percent in posting a 112-63 win over Millsaps College in a men's basketball exhibition game on Thursday at the Cajundome.
 
Bryce Washington recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds as Louisiana opened a 59-34 lead at halftime and scored 33 points off 25 turnovers by the Majors. JaKeenan Gant, one of three Division I transfers for the Ragin' Cajuns, added 14 points with Frank Bartley adding 12, Johnathan Stove 11, Mason Aucoin 11 and freshman Cedric Russell 11.
 
Louisiana opened the contest on a 17-7 run that was capped by a jumper by Miller with 13:03 remaining in the first half before extending its lead to 42-21 on a layup by Marcus Stroman at the 6:12 mark.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns built their lead to 70-39 with 16:38 remaining in the game when Gant followed up a Washington miss with a bucket before a jumper by Bartley would push Louisiana's lead to 81-41 with 14:15 remaining.
 
Louisiana, which finished 43-for-76 (56.6 percent) from the floor, took its biggest lead of the night when a steal and dunk by Aucoin gave the Ragin' Cajuns a 112-61 lead with 1:35 left.
 
Miller added seven rebounds for the Ragin' Cajuns, who held a 40-29 advantage on the glass and limited the Majors to 20-for-57 aim (35.1 percent) from the floor. Larenz Stalcup grabbed six rebounds, blocked three shots and dished out a game-high three assists as Louisiana scored 62 points in the paint and added 60 bench points.
 
Michael Sullivan and She'Chem Grant each scored 13 points to lead Millsaps with Buck Blanz pulling down a team-high five rebounds.
 
Louisiana will officially open the 2017-18 season on Friday (Nov. 10) when it travels to face Ole Miss in a 7 p.m. contest at The Pavilion at Ole Miss.
