LAFAYETTE, LA – The Louisiana men's basketball team gained a boost to the paint with the signing of Hosana Kitenge, head coach Bob Marlin announced on Wednesday.  Kitenge is a 6-8, junior transfer from Three Rivers Community College after starting his collegiate career at Coastal Carolina.

Last season he averaged 12.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.  He scored in double figures 20 times and grabbed 10 or more rebounds on 10 occasions.  Kitenge had a monster performance with a season-high 23 points and 13 rebounds at Missouri State-West Plains on February 2.

"Hosana gives us needed size and experience for next season," said Marlin.  "He has a very good skill set along with a high basketball IQ.  We expect him to pay immediate dividends both on and off the court."

Prior to Three Rivers, Kitenge spent two seasons at Sun Belt Conference rival Coastal Carolina.  The Crawley, England native averaged 2.3 points and 1.8 rebounds in 7.9 minutes of action.  He scored in double figures three times with the Chanticleers including a high of 14 in a 6-for-6 performance against UT Arlington in 2020.
